Day One - Check In
All competitors are registered and weighed-in. Everyone made weight easilly except for Mrs. Keller who had to lose just under a pound for her sparring division. Thankfully, it only took about 30 minutes of running in the arena to lose the pound. It was too cold to run outside - can you believe we had ice on the windshields!
Day Two -Senior Competition
Master Krison: Silver Medal in 5th Dan Poomse; great job sparring against Belorus, but no medal. Recovering from a broken foot, Master Krison's first time in the ring for quite a while, went better than expected! Even with foot surgery and metal pins inside his foot, he displayed some of Taekwondo's finest footwork in the ring.
Master Keller: Gold Medal in 4th Dan Poomse; great job in sparring against Netherlands, but no medal. Master Keller landed two head shots that didn't score, but feels that she was sucessful in that she didn't receive any warnings or deductions for the first time in her Black Belt Sparring career! All of her punches landed squarely where intended! Amazing!
Miss Wilson: Bronze Medal in 3rd Dan Poomse; great job sparrng against Canada, but no medal. Miss Wilson landed an awesome left axe kick to her opponent's head to score 2 points. She also landed an awesome right punch that amazingly didn't get her a full point deduction!
Day Three - Junior Competition
Mr. Nick: 4th Place in 3rd Poom/Dan Poomse; great job sparring against Chili (from Chili, but competing for the US) and then USA, but no medal. Mr. Nick dominated his first opponent, easily pushing him around the ring. Mr. Nick's best technique was his right round house (all eight in a row) to leave the match at a blazing 8-0 victory!
